Mountain Earth Snake (Virginia Valeriae Pulchra)

The non-venomous Mountain Easthsnake (Virginia Valeriae Pulchra) is closely related to the Eastern Smooth Earthsnake, it differs by having weakly keeled scales and a higher scale count than its counterpart and is a hard one to find as it mostly lives underground where it rarely exceeds a foot in length. This species has grey to brown scales with a white to cream-colored belly and feeds on a diet of earthworms and other small invertebrates reproduction produces around 10 young 3 1/2-4 1/2 inches long per litter. This particular species doesn't do well in captivity and as such is not often found in the pet trade.
